Online Movie Rentals? I’ll Go Straight To Netflix And Why You Should Too
There is this great article, Netflix & Blockbuster Go Head To Head, and I couldn’t agree more with it. Netflix beats Blockbuster hands down in the online movie rental business. Sure, Blockbuster has brick-and-mortar stores all over the US, but I prefer renting movies from the comfort of my living room. Blockbuster also has it’s own online service, but it lacks the depth and larger selection of titles that Netflix boasts.
Lets not beat about the bush here. When it comes to inventory, availability and shipping, both companies are equally matched. But Netflix has the edge with it’s unlimited free streaming movies option with every package. The video quality is great and it beats having to wait for your rentals to arrive or driving to your local Blockbuster.
Still, they are not the only players in online movie rentals. Those who own an Xbox 360 can download HD pay-per-view movies off Xbox Marketplace. I also wrote about it a while back, Xbox 360 And Why DVD Rentals Aren’t As Good As Dead. But Xbox Marketplace doesn’t offer the huge selection that Netflix has with it’s staggering 80,000+ titles.
However, I enjoy downloading a movie from Xbox Marketplace that I’ve been itching to see, and have a quick deathmatch with my friends over Xbox Live all from the same user interface. And that without leaving the comfort of my sofa. But if there’s something that I can’t find on Marketpalce, well, I’ll just head on to Netflix. Hey, in fact, I’m off to rent Pirates Of The Caribbean : At World’s End on Blu-Ray. I can’t wait to see how Johny Depp looks in HD.
