New Dead Space 2 Details: Set 3 Years After Previous Game, In “Sprawl”
There was the teaser image that hit the web a few days ago. Now, Visceral Games has released more information on Dead Space 2. Remember the 4 Necromorphs on the image? Well, they are back and even badder this time around.
GameInformer has confirmed that Dead Space 2 will be set 3 years after the events of Dead Space and this time, Isaac finally gets a voice. “Isaac will also be introduced really for the first time…..he will have dialogue, and he will have character.” The experience in the previous Dead Space has left him traumatized but he still has to fight on. Remember the gibberish at the end of the image? They read “The nightmare is over but it will not end.” Its not a mining ship this time, but a massive space station called Sprawl. He will be there to witness the the infection first-hand and watch it spread around him.
“[Visceral Games] aim to make it even scarier, but with better pacing. You’re after them, but they’re also after you.” What I really want to feel is a sense of constant fear, that there is something bigger than me out there just waiting to kill me.
New enemies
The Necromorphs are back, more twsited and bloody than before.
Dead naked children with no lips 😯
A skeleton type creature, no really, its a bare skeleton of a man.
A tentacled monster with his esophagus hanging out like a giant tongue that grabs you and drags you, much like the Smoker from Left 4 Dead 2.
Stalker, an enemy that hunts in packs
New weapons
The Plasma Cutter was the be all and end wall weapon in Dead Space, I never used anything else. It won’t get nerfed but other (more powerful) weapons will make it less important. One is the Javelin Gun which shoots enemies and pins them to the wall.
Multiplayer
There were already rumors of a multiplayer option for Dead Space 2, but this was confirmed when EA posted a job listing for Dead Space 2. The description reads “seeking a highly motivated Senior Online Level Designer for the Dead Space franchise on Xbox360 and PS3”. So, expect to “strategically dismember your friends”. 😀
Dead Space 2 is set to release on Xbox 360 and PS3 (no word of a PC version yet) sometime in 2010.
