Battlefield Bad Company 2 Xbox 360 Reader Review
This a review by fellow Gamersworldbd reader, Shafquat A, also known as “TheSituation” in Gamersworldbd comments section and has been edited by me.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is the [sequel to] Battlefield: Bad Company from publisher EA and developers DICE. This game utilizes DICE’s Frostbite engine and is the best looking xbox 360 shooter till date. Bad Company 2 also boasts the latest destruction 2.0 engine, which allows a player to destroy parts of a house to take advantage of the battlefield, run away from an enemy tank or just for the fun of it! The AI is smarter and a hell lot more precise.
Plot:
The storyline of Battlefield: Bad Company revolves around a four-man squad during a fictional war in the near-future that pits the Russian Federation against the United States. You control Private Preston Marlowe of a squad which is part of the “B” Company of the 222nd Army battalion, more commonly known as “Bad Company”. Non playable team-mates include Haggard, Sweetwater and the leader Sergeant Samuel D. Redford. It’s quite hard to explain the story without any spoilers. But they are sent in on a mission thinking of it being their last before they can all go back home. But they then discover something much deadly is upon them, much bigger than they ever thought.
Gameplay:
The gameplay in Bad Company 2 is like the previous title, with full control of one individual throughout the game. No squad commands, no suppress fire mechanics (like in Brothers In Arms) and multiple vehicular sections. The first person shooting mechanics DICE provided this time round rates just above the previous one.
Cross hair lovers is in for a slight disappointment, as the game uses sight-down shooting just like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. But there is something wrong with the sensitivity in the console version of the game, with aim assist on, it’s quite difficult to land a headshot with a normal rifle. Holding the LT locks on your to your nearest enemy but this mechanic fails to deliver when there are multiple enemies on screen.
Otherwise satisfying shooting, military standard jeeps, boats, UAV, tanks and quads are also at your disposal when it comes to variety. The game runs at a constant 30fps throughout. The game, advertised as a run and gun situation of a game, is actually meant to be played with a particular pace. Running and gunning will not help in Bad Co. 2, peeking corners, blowing doors down and killing with short but precise burst will.
Once killed the game goes into a loading screen which makes death a bit tedious. Enemies are also ingeniously programmed, making it harder to understand if the shot enemy will get up again.
You can also collect guns and destroy satellite uplinks for extra achievements.
Graphics:
The graphics engine from DICE has taken visuals into a whole new level with this game. With HBOA lighting effect the game’s environments look lifelike, with the best utilization of DICE’s engine since Mirror’s Edge.
Taking Bad Co.2 to the rankings near to Crysis and Killzone. Building destruction looks nice and quite detailed, but if you look closely the the same interiors in every building you enter shows the graphics engine’s capacity. Cut scenes are also well animated and character’s looks are unique with enough to identify each of them. The environment makes you want to observe the scenery and of course shoot at it!
Then again certain objects cannot be destroyed, moved or affected in game. The noticeable inconstancy of Bad Co. 2’s engine make things quite complicated and unpredictable. Not all walls can be destroyed using grenades and grenades seem to be powerful against wooden walls or fences but not against wooden boxes, [as] they are not programmed to break.
The game’s native resolution is 720p on both the 360 and PS3.
Length:
The game on normal difficulty clocks in about 7 hours and 9 on hard difficulty due to excessive deaths and random snipe kills. The single player campaign is hardly worth a second play through, but if you are looking for those uplinks you just might.
The multiplayer on the other hand has a limited prospect in Bangladesh, it is exclusively for Xbox Live with 8 huge maps and vehicular warfare. No split screen or system links this time either. Classic battlefield formula but the servers are much well equipped this time around. It is currently competing with Call of Duty’s Modern Warfare 2 and Halo 3 for the most played live game.
Conclusion:
Bad Company 2 is the best fps out in 2010 so far and due to its release across all 3 platforms the 360, PS3 and PC it will be played for a long while now. Although an enjoyable game while it lasts, without the multiplayer support over Xbox Live and no modes for split screen action, gamers might shelf the game after 2 or 3 play through. The enemy AI sometimes seems super human and the aiming is not as snappy as it could be. The game although filled with variety, is like one action packed short film.
My rating for the game:
Plot: 7/10
Gameplay: 8/10
Graphics: 9/10
Length: 6/10
Total: 8/10

@TheSituation
First of all, really nice review bro, congrats. I hardly had to edit it 😉
Reading your review makes me really wish I got it on launch day when I was at US. However, you forgot to mention that the campaign is really funny and has a good sense of humor.

Welcome back & thanks for keeping the Assassin’s Creed 2 Review as a featured article on gamers world bd for a long time. 🙂
btw…what about the server problem?is it fixed now?
Mar 14th, 2010 at 1:17 pm
@mushfique and sng
Yeah thanks man, glad you guys enjoyed the review. And yes the game is quite hillarious, cutscenes specifically. Helps lighten the mood before you go back to sniping, mg packing enemies!

Playing it on PC.
I love this game but I hate the unavailability of saving facility on will. Every time I die, have to start from last cheek point.
NB: This games difficulty is little higher then other latest 1st Person Shooter (COD MW 2). And if you start the game in Hard or Normal mode, you can not shift to Easy mode in the middle. So maybe you you would like to start in easy mode because the game is really heard on upcoming missions.
Note: [I’m talking about PC version]
Mar 14th, 2010 at 10:00 pm
completed the game on normal difficulty today .The game is really good.Had 13 missions in total and there was a direct hint of a sequel in the end (Bad Company 3).
Mar 14th, 2010 at 10:28 pm
@sng425
Hi bro, it’s glad to be back. Yup, the problem has been fixed. Sorry it couldn’t be done sooner.
Mar 14th, 2010 at 10:49 pm
@Rabbi
“there was a direct hint of a sequel in the end (Bad Company 3).”
Wow ! thats just great…
it means we will get to enjoy another great game from BBC saga… 🙂
Mar 15th, 2010 at 12:28 am
compare to bad company 2, the mouse control is much better in all other game (Crysis or COD). What do you guys think?
Mar 15th, 2010 at 3:04 am
yup, i think so too. But I don’t understand what the function “mouse acceleration” does.
Mar 15th, 2010 at 4:18 pm
The sequel although inevitable will be coming after quite sometime. For now DLC’s will be pushed out in the following months to sustain the game’s activity online.
On another note if you compare MW2 to Bad Co.2, MW 2 has a much linear engine, a lot more fluid shooting system and the additions of spec ops (splitscreen also) with multiple difficulties makes the COD game much more accessible to pick and play gamers.
Bad co.2 should be a bit easier on the pc versions, due to the weird assist aiming on the 360. PC gamers might wanna disable the mouse acceleration on their settings, as it is enable by default.
For more info direct your attention to the link underneath for more useful information regarding the issue.

Mar 15th, 2010 at 4:18 pm
*enabled by default
Mar 16th, 2010 at 1:00 am
Just finish the Game.
It’s truly one of the best game. The storyline is superb. The game play is more than excellent. Graphics an sound are top quality.
The mouse control could be better.
Still do not understand the use of “mouse acceleration” in option. Does anyone figure-out what is it?
Mar 16th, 2010 at 7:53 pm
Does any one played “Napoleon: Total War”. I bought this game (pirated obviously!) but can’t play the camping! The game just crash when I try to play camping.

There is a good news for the Microsoft xbox 360 users,it seems that in the next 2010 update,there is a chance that the xbox 360 may support Usb mass storage devices.Which means that the xbox 360 will support external usb memory devices like ps3.

Which one will release 1st, Project Natal (Xbox 360) or Xbox 720?
Mar 19th, 2010 at 11:49 pm
And, Which one will be better, Project Natal (Xbox 360) or Xbox 720?
Mar 19th, 2010 at 11:51 pm
Moreover,What are the difference between, Project Natal (Xbox 360) and Xbox 720?
Mar 20th, 2010 at 8:49 pm
@TheSituation
Does MW2 PC version also has the “split screen” feature?
Mar 20th, 2010 at 9:15 pm
@kawser
As far as i know,It doesn’t have any “split screen” feature….. 🙂
Mar 20th, 2010 at 10:52 pm
Ok guys, i dont know why you people keep on speculating on ”Xbox 720” there WILL NOT BE A XBOX 720 ANYTIME SOON! Maybe for the next 2 YEARS OR MORE!
NATAL will be the new life being injected into the 360, I get OXM’s frequently ( Official Xbox Magazines UK) IT CLEARLY STATES NATAL WILL BE RELEASED LATER THIS YEAR and THERE IS A NEW XBOX IN THE WORK with the new INTEL processor CLARKSDALE where the GPU and CPU are infused into one. The next xbox also might be slimmer.
SO TO SUM UP, NO XBOX 720 speculations. NATAL will release later this year, possibly december 2010 around christmas.
I will try to put up more info on the NATAL hands on, later.
Mar 21st, 2010 at 12:01 am
@everyone
Ok guys,don’t mix up Project Natal with Xbox 720 !
I mean,These two things are just completely different from each other !
And they are Not meant to be mixed up !

Mar 29th, 2010 at 7:48 pm
Will the next Bad Company (3), come this year? I will be really glad if they can make it fast like Crysis Warhead!
I have no problem is game is short, infect I like short games 😉
Mar 29th, 2010 at 7:50 pm
and any one playing dragon age expansion?
Mar 31st, 2010 at 2:06 pm
@sng
Well dude, you cant really write an in-depth review of a free roaming game just by beating it. JC 2 is huge and i mean the biggest 3D free roaming game on the 360. But you could submit the review to mushfique, i am still getting all the achievements on JC2.
I am done with METRO 2033 <<amazing game this one. Highly recommended, think FEAR 2 mixed with condemned 2 with high difficulty.
Mar 31st, 2010 at 11:44 pm
@TheSituation
Hey bro,Agree with me or not,Or call me paranoid.
But I think,an In-Depth review is the best way to review a game…
Cus,In an In-depth review,you get to know all the pros & cons about the game & then you also get to know an overall rating of the game(which is based on all the pros & cons from the game)…
But you won’t be able know this things in a normal review,like all the reviews that has been posted on this site so far…(exept my “Assassin’s Creed 2” review).
In fact,In-depth reviews are also hard to write…
Cus,You almost need to do a good “research” on the whole game (Like I did on my Assassin’s Creed 2 review)
And then you get to write the whole review…
And to do so,It needs a lot of hard work…
Btw…looks like you didn’t noticed it.I already mentioned that above,That I won’t be writing that review Since you got the idea first…
Apr 1st, 2010 at 12:49 pm
Hahha no no, I dont think you are paranoid. That does not apply here at all 😯
I know what in-depth means dude, i work on game magazines on a daily basis 😛
But JC2’s “in-depth” review would take at least 4 pages, 50 over hours, you need to finish the game 100% till you can claim a review for JC2.
If you ask me copy pasting, feeding off other people infos (gamespot,wiki and OXMs) holds no value. So self generated info is the best way to go for us.
All this extra research i wont be able to do, as i am currently working on multiple projects. You can do the review man, whatever makes this site more informative 😀
I write reviews either way, but might not post it here.
Apr 1st, 2010 at 10:11 pm
@TheSituation
“I know what in-depth means dude, i work on game magazines on a daily basis”
Well,thats good to know !
“But JC2’s “in-depth” review would take at least 4 pages, 50 over hours, you need to finish the game 100% till you can claim a review for JC2.”
In case,If you don’t know, I only do reviews of those games that are completely finished by me & I write those reviews completely on my own 😀 …(I really don’t copy anything from those game reviewing sites & magazines like gamespot,IGN,wiki,Official Xbox Magazine or Official Playstation Magazine)
And that’s why,I don’t do the reviews that much…
I believe that the quality of a review should be maintained at any cost…
Otherwise,the readers won’t read the review…
And I also must admit that, Who’s gonna read a review if it contains 4 pages of shitload & all those stuffs,bro?
And either way,To make a review “interesting” to the others,you will always have to keep the review short,whether it is an “in-depth” review or not…
And I really don’t wanna “Trash talk”,since i don’t have to “prove” “anything” to “anyone”….
Anyway,You can write the review if you want to,Cus I won’t able to do any review right now since i’m a little bit of busy these days…
Anyway,I wish you good luck on your work & have fun & happy gaming !
Apr 3rd, 2010 at 8:53 am
“And I really don’t wanna “Trash talk”,since i don’t have to “prove” “anything” to “anyone”….” –
where did this come from? Hehe we were just talking here about reviews nothing related to all this. Forum posts has a tendency of sending out the wrong message to people when it means something else. I wasnt pushing your buttons man, i was just saying its gonna be difficult doing an in-depth of JC2.
“Who’s gonna read a review if it contains 4 pages of shitload & all those stuffs,bro?” – well a lot of people do in real life like the paperbased magazines and super sites like ign or gamespot.
FYI i wasnt imposing that you copy stuff man, i said the exact same thing you said.
Anyway will try to post the review when i complete it, but the gaming wiz seems to be MIA. So let’s see
Anyway its hard to convey a message through posts. I will do the review soon, still haven’t completed JC2.
thanks for the wish

“Who’s gonna read a review if it contains 4 pages of shitload & all those stuffs,bro?” – well a lot of people do in real life like the paperbased magazines and super sites like ign or gamespot.”
Hey bro,That’s right.Many people read those reviews on ign or gamespot & all those popular & famous paperbased game magazines…
But I was talking about Gamers world bd,If you write here a 4 page long review,no ones gonna read that(& I can guarantee you that !)…
Apr 4th, 2010 at 1:12 am
@sng425
totally agree.
Apr 4th, 2010 at 7:07 am
@Rabbi
“totally agree.”
Thanks for agreeing with me,bro. 🙂
It seems that,someone is posting comments under my name… 👿
Keep an eye out for those comments,bro…
Apr 4th, 2010 at 11:18 am
@sng
Yeah you are right about that.
“It seems that,someone is posting comments under my name…”
Hmm but Who posted what under your name man? 😯
Apr 4th, 2010 at 11:22 am

I don’t Know,Man ! But this is really getting worse…
Maybe the gaming wiz can find out…
But he seems to be MIA !
Apr 5th, 2010 at 12:10 am
We have seen so many advertisement of this website on Facebook and YouTube. Any one from Bangladesh browsing anything related to gaming on nay popular website can see the advertisement of this site. This is really massive promotion of any Bangladeshi site ever.
Apr 5th, 2010 at 12:11 am
But still there are not much commenter on this site! SO are not those advertisement working actually?
Apr 5th, 2010 at 12:13 am
If not much gamer interested in this site, then what is the reason for it?
May 13th, 2010 at 12:10 am
Battlefield Bad Company 2 getting getting 4 player co-op campaign dlc only for the console versions of Playstation 3 & Xbox 360.PC version is under consideration at the moment.

I just bought “The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom”. Good to see it got successfully cracked after 1 months of release from UbiSoft.
Jan 17th, 2011 at 12:52 am
Dear Editor, I got a quarry: If I buy original “Battlefield Bad Company 2” PC version and have good internet speed : 1mbps(bttb). Will I be able to play multilayer here in Bangladesh?
I’m asking it because, I hard…no matter how fast speed I got.. BC:s can’t be played from Bangladesh because of PING problem. Can you please le tme know about it?
Email: [email protected]
Jan 17th, 2011 at 12:22 pm
@mafiul
Nope, ping times will still be high since you’re connecting to EU/US servers. This has to do with distance rather than internet speed.
Jan 17th, 2011 at 12:27 pm
So, what we have as conclusion here? Will I be able to play multilayer of BC:2 here in Bangladesh?
Jan 17th, 2011 at 2:00 pm
@mafiul
No FPS multiplayer from BD. Although MMOs and RTS is playable even with high ping times. You can play FPS, but trust me you’ll be frustrated with high ping times.
Feb 1st, 2011 at 4:36 am
@The Gaming Wiz/Mushfiqur Rahman : Now I use 1mbps connection of BTTB. I play COD4 on GameRanger [www.gameranger.com/]. When host a game, I see many people join my game, play an win but with ping 400+.. even sometimes 600+! Compare to those, my ping with Europe or USA is not that bad. you can see it here.
Europe- http://www.pingtest.net/result/33536886.png
USA- http://www.pingtest.net/result/33536599.png
Now, Do you think: if I buy, original Battlefield Bad Company 2. I’ll be able to play matched ONLINE in Battlefield Server?

Never lose hope, we may get this blog up and running again someday!
