BioWare’s New Game Is A Mass Effect Multiplayer Spin-Off?

Yesterday, BioWare teased a new game by revealing a single screenshot and a short clip of the game.

Now, “a development source” has tipped Kotaku that the said game could be a Mass Effect multiplayer spin-off. In essence, it won’t be an online multiplayer RPG but it’s game mechanics will appeal more to the Call of Duty crowd, ie, straight up shooter action.

Further proof to this theory is that BioWare was seeking multiplayer programmers earlier this year to “take existing single player user experiences and make them multiplayer safe.”

Another proof is that former Raven Software lead designer Manveer Heir (Quake 4, Wolfenstein) moved to BioWare Montreal, giving BioWare a much-needed multiplayer talent.

BioWare isn’t entirely new to online games with it’s upcoming MMORG Star Wars: The Old Republic. However, if this turns out to be true, this will be the first BioWare online game to have less emphasis on RPG elements.

The game is set to be revealed on Spike’s VGA 2010 on December 11th.
