OnLive Microconsole To Release Next Week

OnLive Microconsole is currently available for pre order and expected to release December 2nd 2010 with a price tag of $99.

OnLive Microconsole is a gaming system that is about the size of a deck of cards and the hardware includes nothing other than two USB connectors, a network jack, and some AV outs.

Connect the Microconsole to any TV (HD or not), hook it up to your Internet connection and you are good to go. You can then stream any of the available games and play them in the highest resolution (and if your PC, TV or Internet connection isn’t fast enough, then it’ll revert to an appropriate Standard Definition for smooth play).

The other option is a simple PC or Mac web browser plug in. Simply install this and you will be able to play high-end PC games like Crysis on your Windows XP low-grade computer.

The system itself is subscription based for both options and will come with it’s own unique wireless controller but will also support any PC USB controller even the Xbox 360 controller. Up to four OnLive Controllers can be wirelessly hooked up to the system at once. Or if you are on PC you can simply play with a mouse and keyboard.

What does this mean for gamers? It can play any PC games on the highest resolution without any upgrades as the game is streamed from the OnLive servers and it kills the need for upgrading or owning a high end PC. The only requirement for this cloud gaming is a high end internet connection and you are on your way. This will essentially cut costs and is the future of gaming. Currently it supports upto 1080p expect 3D support in the future.

  4. hmmm..wud have been great…but there u go its BD..internet connection..huge problem..

  5. @x360assasin

we made HD possible here in bd and OnLive will be possible here as well. Wait for around 3 years before we can get access to high end internet with low latency then pc gaming wont be as costly and cumbersome as it is now

well waiting for 3 years will help in a way..coz by then this service will be fully developed

  7. @x360assasin

the main thing is that the games are cheaper and you can play pc xbox 360 and ps3 games all in 0ne place no more fanboyism no more console wars cuz this is the future one console for all

  8. yup..and there are a wide variety of choices…like 2day pass or 3day pass..coz after finishin a game like assassins creed..u dont need a full playpass without multiplayer..

  9. @rabbi
i dont think we can play exclusives like gears of war or god of war via onlive..at least upto this point there are only 16 game or smthing like that.. 👿

  10. OnLive supports only PC games – no console games like God of War. Also, I read that even US readers are suffering from lag. No matter how much internet in BD improves, and no matter how efficient they make their service, I don’t see OnLive a possibility unless they introduce a server in BD.

Hmmm that’s the first time I’ve heard OnLive will offer console gaming. AFAIK, its PC games only at the moment but it could expand.
