Microsoft: Retailers Can’t Keep Up With Demand For Xbox 360 Slim 250GB
Looking to buy the new Xbox 360 Slim? Well, you should do so fast unless it gets sold out. And in that case retailers won’t be getting new stock before Christmas 2010. Microsoft has attributed the shortages due to a spike in demand for Kinect.
Speaking to ScrawlFX, a Microsoft rep said, “yes, we’re experiencing amazing demand for Kinect.”
“Retailers are telling us they can’t keep up with the supply and we’re doing our best to expedite Kinect sensors so we can meet the consumer demand. We have a 5 million unit forecast for this holiday and are excited to see that people are showing up at retailers in droves, making Kinect the must-have gift for the holidays.”

Now isn’t that news 🙄
Durh people want to play without buttons, especially if that’s what kept them away from the console in the first place. For serious gamers, its more of a novelty at the moment until serious games come out, like child. of eden.

Luckily I got mine just yesterday fresh from the states before lack of supplies kicks in 🙂

Congratulations bro! Which did you get? The Kinect only or 360 S? Don’t know how hardcore games will take advantage of Kinect but really looking forward to the Star Wars Kinect game and a possible Gears of War for Kinect.

The Kinect bundle 😎
But I don’t know whether it is the 4GB or 250GB because my relative who brought it didn’t bring the box and also because since the voltage is 110V, I need to get something to make it work here and have been unable to turn it on so far 🙁
Ahh the irony 🙄

@Moontasir
Sorry for the confusion. Article now fixed. The quoted text means to say that the 360 console has seen a large spike in demand thanks to Kinect.
The source quoted in the article, ScrawlFX, also has the headline “Source: No 250GB Xbox 360 shipments until after Christmas [Update]”
You can also read at VG247 @ http://www.vg247.com/2010/12/04/report-250gb-xbox-360-stock-to-pick-up-after-christmas/ which says “When asked about the claim, Microsoft responded saying retailers are seeing a large demand for the console thanks to Kinect.”

You can get a power converter from IDB or from Game Source at Bashundhara City. Also the 250GB Slim has a glossy finish whereas the 4GB Arcade Slim has matte colour similar to the 360 Elite.

Hey I didn’t know that, that means my 360 Slim is a 250 GB variant, awesome!
And thanks for the info, but can’t I just buy a regular
input:AC220-240V 50/60Hz
Output:AC 110-120V 100W converter? Or do I need a fat converter, or a European power bar for the xbox?

im sure the shortage has nothing to do with hundreds of kinect and xbox slim Microsoft gave away at the Opran and Ellen show. Anyways, ppl r saying the shortage is fake, just to boost popularity. who knows.

Nice. I too have been eying that 250GB Slim since it came out. But with my Elite and 20GB Premium (really old and now flashed), I simply won’t be buying another 360. But sad to say my Premium showed the RRoD a few days back but it’s still going strong.
Anyway, a regular power converter will be fine. Just make sure it outputs at AC 110-120V. Also, get atleast 200W.

Could be as you may have read at http://www.gamersworldbd.com/2010/11/move-and-kinect-shortages-are-fake-ploy-to-increase-sales.html

I see what you did there
@Mushfiqur
I just came back from SOF, guy there told me to buy the 2800tk converter, so that’s what it seems like i’ll be getting.
Just buying a controller and a converter racked up the price of buying a 360 from US by 100$, 😯

@mashinator
Yup, there are hidden costs to buying things from US.
