Ubisoft Modifies It’s DRM, No Longer Requires Constant Internet Connection

Ubisoft has made some changes to it’s DRM system, it will no longer require a constant active internet connection in order to play all the DRM enabled games.

The games will no longer pause immediately if a connection is lost, though an internet connection will still be required to validate the install every time the game is booted up.

As of yet, Assassin’s Creed II and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction can be played offline.

[Editor’s note – We also hope this will be implemented in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood PC version]

Ubisoft introduced the controversial DRM system in early 2010 on several Ubisoft titles including Assassin’s Creed II and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction.
