Should You Use Refill Ink And Cartridges For Your Printer? Surprising Details You Need To Know

Let’s face it. Original first party ink cartridges cost an arm and a leg overtime. That’s where third party ink refill kits and re-manufactured cartridges come in. But does it void your printer’s warranty if you use refill cartridges? Real Life Experience

Refill ink cartridges can really save you money. I almost always use refill inks for my HP PSC 1402 printer, and I haven’t faced any trouble. My printer has two cartridges, one black and the other a tri-color one. Refilling the black cartridge still produces good text, however, black photos on glossy paper turn out as a disaster. The problem with these inks is that they take a long time to dry and photos (even text sometimes) turn out smudgy. Photos on standard paper turns out okay. Still, I mostly print out articles and it works out for me. It’s nearly worthless to try and fill my tri-color cartridge. I tried three times, and the colors look horribly wrong. If you use your printer to print out photos, I suggest you to avoid using refill cartridges all together, mainly because they churn out poor quality pictures.

What are the problems of refilling ink cartridges?

It’s not to say that I haven’t had any accidents. Once my ink overflowed and spilled inside my printer. I had to get a cloth dabbed in warm water and clean out the mess, but the printer still runs fine. Basically, you can’t do any damage to your printer if you follow the instructions properly when refilling your cartridge. So, you should be safe. The most severe problem I heard of is the printer-head getting damaged, but that’s highly unlikely.
