PCs vs Consoles: Which Is Better In Bangladesh? (Round Two)
The controversial article, PC Phobia – Is The PC Dead As A Gaming Platform? has garnered intense debate from Gamersworldbd readers.
A follow up is in order. But instead, let’s take a look from Bangladeshi perspective. If you are a Bangladeshi gamer, which would be better, PCs or consoles?
The Good Ol’ Days
Whether we like to admit or not, most of us started as a PC gamer. Remember the old days of NFS and Prince of Persia on AMD K6/Pentium I PCs in Bangladesh?
Back then gaming was simple on Windows 95 or the DOS-era if you were lucky enough to own a PC at that time. There was no need to worry about system requirements. Most games we played were limited to the ones that came pre-installed. Or we would have some elder relative (who happened to be a PC nut) and install the next NFS in our PC.
Bangladesh was gripped with Doom, NFS, Prince of Persia and Road Rash fever that took long to break out of.
Consoles were gaining in popularity, mostly the Sega Mega Drive and Sonic. Consoles were simple and lasted longer (I’m looking at you RRoD) than their controllers. I fondly remember going to Eastern Plaza every few months to replace a busted controller. Games came in cartridges, we couldn’t imagine playing directly from a spinning disc.
New Kid On The Block
And along came this box called the PlayStation that would play games on the TV. It was a toy for the rich only, and most of us mocked the “retarded” gamepads that they used. However the first Gran Turismo and Metal Gear Solid proved us wrong.
Mind you, PC gaming was at it’s pinnacle (and it still is now) in the PlayStation era. Consoles began gaining in popularity with the advent of the PS2. The original Xbox was less well received in Bangladesh.
The Rise Of The Consoles
Fast forward today and most households (in Dhaka) own a gaming console. Why?
For the half that you spend on your PC, you will most likely find a top-of-the-line next generation console. Then there isn’t the hassle of ensuring that your system meets the requirements to play the game, just pop the disk inside your console and start playing – even no installation required! Unlike PCs, you don’t have to constantly upgrade your consoles meaning that your “investment” won’t get obsolete by the next year or just six months from now.
The PC Strikes Back
But all is not lost for PC gamers. Sure, consoles have overtaken PCs in popularity in the US/EU but here in Bangladesh, PC reigns supreme.
As a reader Moontasir points out, a PC equipped with two ATI HD 5870 in CrossFire will beat the graphical quality of consoles. This is true, consoles are limited to a resolution of 1920X1080 whereas PC gamers can enjoy 2560X1600 (the ATI EyeFinity supports a maximum resolution of 7680X1600 across multiple monitors).
But why stop there? A core i7 rig, with two HD 5970 in CrossFire (for a total of 4 GPUs) and 12 GB of RAM will blow the consoles out of the water.
For comparison, a PS3 uses a 3.2 GHz Cell processor with a NVIDIA GPU pushing at 550 MHz.
The Xbox 360 also uses a 3.2 GHz PowerPC triple core processor. RAM is at a paltry 512 MB and the ATI GPU is clocked at a laughably 500 MHz.
So The Hardware Is There But……
But specs alone won’t save the PC (if you are crazy enough to spend that much anyway) since most developers won’t take advantage of the hardware. The reason we are seeing games like Halo Reach, Uncharted 2, etc. is because developers take full advantage of the console architecture. They are designed for gaming, and even with inferior hardware, gaming on consoles is smooth and ultra-realistic thanks to hundreds of man-hours developer spend on optimizing their code. Most PC games are lazy ports of their console counterparts and hence the lower framerates.
A Gamersworldbd visitor explains the difference between architectures:
“As always, computing hardware is always superior to console hardware – by raw numbers. But what makes the average high-end gaming rig inferior to a PS3 or Xbox 360 are the multiple GPU cores. Console hardware is manufactured for one sole task – render animated polygons or vectors. PC hardware is, on the other hand, manufactured to do a multitude of things.”
Nobody Owns The PC Gaming Platform
The other reason is that nobody owns the PC gaming platform (even though Windows has the majority market share). The reason why consoles get such superb exclusives is because Microsoft and Sony took the initiative to make such games in the first place. It is in their best interest to make a triple A title which sells a lot of hardware and generates even more profit. In comparison, the latest PC exclusive is unlikely to sell more copies of Windows. Sure, hardware sales might increase but Microsoft has nothing to gain (and hence the lack of interest on PC gaming on part of the Redmont juggernaut).
As another Gamersworldbd reader Enamur Reza so succinctly puts it: “Of course PC delivers out the best in graphics but it cant give me the Uncharted II or Bayonetta, or, Ninja Gaiden II or Assasin’s Creed II ( at the right time), or Gears of War II, or most importantly God of War III.” Well said sir.
However, for FPS and RPG games PC is the place to go. I kid you, try to beat Left 4 Dead 2 at hardcore (on realism mode) with your Xbox 360 gamepad and try it again on a mouse and keyboard.
And you don’t see consoles with World of Warcraft and 11.5 million players.
So Which Is The Best In Bangladesh?
PC games are the cheapest in Bangladesh, followed by Xbox 360 games and lastly, PS3’s original games. Although that is soon about to change with the PS3 hack.
Dhaka is hitting the console fever but everywhere else in Bangladesh, it’s still PC. That said, if you are a hardcore gamer, you surely own a gaming PC plus a console (or two). 😉
If a game releases on multiple platforms, I always get the PC version since it’s cheaper. I also own a Xbox 360 and PS3 for the exclusives that simply aren’t available on the PC.
I was born a PC gamer and will be a PC gamer for life.

Our fellow reader VISITOR has given a great insightful thought here:
http://www.gamersworldbd.com/2010/01/god-of-war-3-gaia-screenshots.html#comment-13965
that’s pretty much the same from me.
Actually be it BD or US, the graphics cards are rapidly changing, there was a point that you own a GPU and boast for it for next 2 years, it’s not like that. The pace is very fast.
Oh, recently (I think it’ll be helpful to our readers) I put NFS Carbon on my PC after a long 2 years break. Just out of curiosity (E7400 @ 1066 Bus, HD 4650 1 GB DDR II, 4 GB @ 800 Bus- a semi-good config 😳 ) I installed it (@ maximum settings).
Well, I gotta say NFS Carbon is BEST in PC (I played it on PS2, later on PS 3, and latest on X3). The control, speed, graphics everything was the BEST on PC. I drifted above 200,000 in canyon, made 17X on tracks, driven out camaro SS, and later Dodge challenger to blow out the antagonists throughout the career….it is just a feeling (a speedy one lol) that a PC Gamer can understand.
But hey, wait. 😛 the other way, whenever I run the NFS Carbon it crashes, and kept continuing doing that. 😛 😛
So, in multi-platform gaming PC does rule, that’s why Ubisoft A C developers took quite a long time to release Assassin’s Creed II on PC (though I am yet to know how to avoid that anti-piracy barrier).
BTW, we know the GT 5 Hype, I, once asked our gaming wiz Mushfiq, what if it was somehow ported to a PC. He found it as a hard question and expressed his point of view here: http://www.gamersworldbd.com/2010/01/gran-turismo-5-gorgeous-screens.html
Another reader pointed out PC would continue to PAWN Consoles if they’re not blessed with their-respective exclusives..well that’s pretty interesting in that sense..if ALL THE GAMES of the world would have been released to ALL THE PLATFORMS (which is unlikely 😉 to be happened) Then, My question to Fellow/sincere readers of this blog:
“Would all people throw away the consoles and play only on the PCs?”
That question remains…
Feb 6th, 2010 at 5:47 am
This surely brings back memories of my first 8-bit console (think it was an Atari). I played PoP on the Famicom, though I demo’ed it on the Apple II!
Let’s not also forget that some titles are first developed for and on arcade systems, like the Sega Lindbergh (which is by itself based on PC/Linux architecture rather than console).
Now, I have to get back to my MAME machine =p
Feb 6th, 2010 at 5:52 am
Oops, I forgot to mention:
I think PC gaming is the most popular here, judging from the amount of stores selling PC games, and the amount of stores selling computing hardware.
But maybe it’s a worldwide fad.
Feb 6th, 2010 at 8:31 pm
personally i think .. its just the xclusive games that made console great .. nothing else
im planning to buy PS3 not because i want gaming machine or high gfx
its beacause i want to play god of war 3, heavy rain, uncharted 2
but for multiplatform game i will be always with pc
(i want to mention .. my choice is not related to any piracy issue)
Feb 6th, 2010 at 9:19 pm
@Reza
“Then, My question to Fellow/sincere readers of this blog:
Would all people throw away the consoles and play only on the PCs?”
Thanks bro, you just gave me an idea for my next post. 😉
Then it would be basically who likes mouse/keyboard and who likes gamepads. Plus, with the PC there is always the need to upgrade.
Feb 6th, 2010 at 11:50 pm
😈 😈 😈
FINALLY!!!! The PC won……i knew it would have won from the start but the satisfaction of actually hearing it is sumthin else……let me just say that NO MATTER wat i tried, I could not beat my PC in any game wid any platform…..i evn played top titles of the PS2, like god of war 2 on the pc, downloaded ALOT of iso’s of Wii games as well as 9 other PS2 games
Compared it with both my xbox 360 nd PS3 via high resolution texture mapping(our eyes)….nd not just in 1 game
I tested these wid all the games i had in common wid
a) PS3 nd PC
b) 360 nd PC
c) All three of em’
Nd also, DONT NAG ME ABT WAT GAMES….nd if u must knw, they were on the lines of Arkham Asylum, Assassin’s Creed(sorry coudnt do AC2 coz the pc ver. aint released yet 👿 👿 )
Guitar Hero ( 🙄 ) nd 26 other games in total….
ND seriosly, other than GTA 4, none of ’em stood a chance against my PC…. (withholding PC configurations bcoz of sum special reasons ➡ )
(Nd GTA4 only won coz the 1 on my PC has a serious crash error, but thats bcoz its a cracked game)
Still….I COWER IN THE FACE OF CONSOLES BUT THE AT THE FEROCITY OF THE PC 😈 😈 👿 😈 👿
Feb 6th, 2010 at 11:53 pm
Oh nd @ the gaming wiz….
give me your email id 4 any games on game ranger…would lyk 2 team up wid u nd kick sum skag ass in Borderlands LOLZ
Feb 6th, 2010 at 11:56 pm
Sorry, the last line was
I COWER AT THE FACE OF CONSOLES, BUT DIE!!!!! AT THE FEROCITY OF THE PC…..mwahahahahahah
Nd has any1 visited the CityIT fair? It ended 2day apparently.
🙁 🙁
Feb 7th, 2010 at 12:13 am
@Moontasir
Oh, just love Borderlands! Playing on the PC though. My gamespy ID is TUSHAR451. Same ID on Xbox Live, but not playing on Live for sometime.
Feb 7th, 2010 at 1:10 am
“FINALLY!!!! The PC won”
Only in BD, not in the whole world. And it actually got valid reasons.
Feb 7th, 2010 at 1:41 am
Can any one say, console exclusive games like; Uncharted 2, God Of war III, Assassin’s Creed II; has any chance of being released in PC, in the near future? I really want to play these games and I don’t own a console. 🙁
Feb 7th, 2010 at 1:47 am
“Can any one say, console exclusive games like; Uncharted 2, God Of war III, Assassin’s Creed II; has any chance of being released in PC, in the near future?”
A C II is not a console exclusive, the PC version’ll be released on march, 2010.
The rest two games are unlikely to be released on PC, or could not be emulated in the near future.
Feb 7th, 2010 at 1:58 am
@Reza
Is “console exclusive” a new concept? If not, is there any history of a console exclusive game to be released in PC after around a year of its original console release? I’m not talking about any emulation or stuff like that.
I really want to play God of war III, so how long do I have to wait for the PC version?
Feb 7th, 2010 at 2:05 am
“is there any history of a console exclusive game to be released in PC after around a year of its original console release?”
Yup, Gears of War I from X3, but Gears of War III never released on PC.
As for your last question, the answer is we do not know.
Feb 7th, 2010 at 2:50 am
sorry Gears of war II * actually.
Feb 7th, 2010 at 2:37 pm
Well i used to be a pc gamer till i got sick of upgrading… den i finally dished out the cash to buy a Jasper Xbox 360 ….
Now i gotta remod my console firmware cuz of wave 4 games 🙄 … but dont get me wrong… i love my pc n my x360!!! 😆
Feb 7th, 2010 at 3:10 pm
@Pagla07
hey bro,did u get the Activate Iso Disc?u don’t need to remod ur console,u just need the Activate Iso disc & u will be able to play the Wave 4 games….
& u can Download the Sofware from internet & Burn it to a Dual-layer DVD disc…(u will also need a Dual-layer Dvd Burner)
or u can search for it on those gaming shops in Dhaka..u might get it for a low price ! but be aware,those shopkeepers will always try to fool u & rip u off ! may be they will try to charge u a high price for it ! i’m tellin u that,cus i’ve already suffered from these hassles & troubles…
& u won’t believe me,one of the shopkeeper in Bashundhara just charged me tk 2,000 for that sofware ! i said to him,i can get it from the internet for free & u r charging me tk 2,000 for that free software?then suddenly he just told me,ok u can get it for tk 300 ! 😯 shocked,aren’t u ? thats how they rip off their customers…
anyway,u should get the Activate Iso disc soon bro,or u won’t be able to play the wave 4 games like Cod MW2,AC 2,Dragon Age origins etc. on ur Modded xbox 360..
& oh,i always forgot to congratulate u on ur purchasing of ur new Xbox 360 ! Congratz bro ! & u did a good work on purchasing the jasper one !
Feb 7th, 2010 at 5:17 pm
Loving the site way to represent!!
Nice article, I agree to the fact most of us gamers did start out on a pc but back then we knew shit about physics, layers, fps, achievements, wifi, multiplayer, pawning and lan. As a result gaming then and gaming now is worlds apartt!!
Ask any good young gamers today, high chance they started gaming on a psp or a 360. Psp might suck in the intensity but it’s still gaming for a lot of young gamers today.
Most of us 19-20 year olds really don’t give a flying crap bout how much resolution the game’s running on, no matter how high the resolution might be; 1080p (upscaled or not) on a 360 or ps3 is more than enough for me (i could speak for 20 others :P). But we do give a crap bout how smooth and sharp the game is! That’s what consoles delivers!
So no wonder pc upgrades are more expensive, more hassle to understand the lingo AND MUCH MORE DIFFICULT to maintain a 65fps on Bioshock, GTA 4, Gears oh and the evergreen pc classic CRYSIS!! PC parts are meant to be upgraded and updated and last a lot lesser than console’s does. But give 360 2 more years it just might become what PS2 is today, they will grow older. (and yes it will last that long lol! JASPER FTWW!!)
Enthusiast is the word really, i am not a pc enthusiast. But people who are, takes it to a whole new level when it comes to detail. Not a bad thing, but it’s something you can only pursue on a pc. Benchmarks, overclocking and refresh rates and crossfires PCI-Es Direct X 11 etc etc.
Consoles will never appeal to you if you dont OWN (buy with your own money and can play it!) one period.
Also guys here talking about Gears 2 never coming to PC, come on man!? MS owns both the platforms Windows Live and Xbox 360. They will if need be, release a 360 exclusive to PC. Why is it such a bad thing? Stop the hating. Windows games for live and Xbox 360 is a gift for us gamers from MS. Everything 360 has will be on the pc eventually except games from studios who make game only for the 360 such as RARE and Peter Molynoux games such as fable 2 and 3.
To conclude i am pro ps3 and 360 NOT A PC HATER but sick of people comparing.
Should love the fact you can play CO-OP or Competitive on the same 42/22inch screen when your friend comes over. Without the need of lans, multiple screens and “souped” up pc. Don’t know about being able to friends when they come over is A BIG PLUS FOR HAVING A CONSOLE, i wouldnt want to game on my mine for long.
FIFA 10, Uncharted, HALO and the near future REACH, God of war, MGS4,COD MW2 and GEARS FTW!!!!!!!!!!!

@sng425, thiki bolesen, this happened to me when A C II and MW 2 released, but thye charged 700/= for me, but told me to run the games first, if not then it’ll be needed. Thanks GAWD, the games run fine on my unit.
“no matter how high the resolution might be; 1080p (upscaled or not) on a 360 or ps3 is more than enough for me”
Same for me, 1080P serves just more than fine for me.
Feb 8th, 2010 at 12:06 am
So, let me see. PC nd 360 nd PS3 ‘s should not be compared…….
But, come on gamers……look at me!!
I own almost every popular modern gaming device, console nd hardware….nd i TOLD EVERY1 A THOUSAND TIMES OVER, I JUST CANT C DA PC LOSING……Just giv me 1 gud reason y da PC shud lose as a gaming platform.
Cash? If u cant evn spare enuf cash 2 buy a moderate gaming rig den u dont deserve to b a gamer
P.S. Just recently i helped a cousing buy a PC nd it only cost him TK.38000 without monitor, nd he can play dragon age, assassins creed, gears of war, mass effect, bioshock evn NFS prostreet at Very High configurations nd crysis, crysis warhead, NFS SHIFT, Unreal Tournament 3 etc,etc,etc at High graphics…..
So if u cant even spare that much….. 😳 😳 🙁 😯 😡 UR NOT A GAMER, So dont even talk about which is better…..nd dont tell us dat wen u hav a friend around, its better 2 play on consoles……but trying playing an MMORPG on consoles……HAH….got ya….
Anyhow, most of u MUST have played dragon age-origins…..did u knw da consoles ver. DOES NOT have a view from top display, nd wen ur in war, i think thats the best place 2 control ALL characters from…OH, da PC ver. does hav dat….
ND instead of talkin bout console exclusives, talk bout PC exclusives….HA, HA, HAH….
BEAT THAT!!!! 😎 😎
Feb 8th, 2010 at 12:07 am
@TheSituation
“Same for me, 1080P serves just more than fine for me.”
i also agree with u….
@Reza
can’t believe they just took tk 700 from u.i didn’t bought the dvd from them though.it cost me tk 170 only,cus i’ve downloaded the software from internet & just burn it on a dual-layer dvd like i always do.(i also download xbox 360 games & burn it on a dual-layer dvd,cus i don’t trust those pirated dvds anymore since a lot of people has been banned from xbl by using those dvds)
Feb 8th, 2010 at 12:47 am
Now its really gettin irrittating. WHY THE HECK ON EARTH I have to talk about one (Crysis) PC Exclusives instead of FIFA WORLD CUP 2010, GOD OF WAR III, HEAVY RAIN, GEARS OF WAR, FORZA, KILLZONE, OR GT 5, OR EVEN DOA?
@sng, I told you they advised me to try to run the games on my console before buy, so did I, and they ran. So, I did not have to pay that charges. But then again, be it 700 or 2000 or 1000/= it’s simply fraud. 👿
Feb 8th, 2010 at 1:02 am
@Reza
then ur 360 is compatible with wave 4…u r the lucky one,bro !
looks like ur Dvd-rom is Manufactured by Hitachi…which is the only dvd-rom drive which supports wave 4…atleast for right now….mine is Lite-on..& it’s my bad luck that it doesn’t support wave 4..so i have to play the wave 4 games using the Activate iso disc !
Feb 8th, 2010 at 1:39 am
@Moontasir
oh,come on,bro.u again?i’m simply tired of wathing those comments of urs…the readers here r trying to point out which is Better in Bangladesh…& u?u r making it so irrittating by writing in ur such useless & senseless comments…& hey,u mentioned above that,”if u can’t afford a good gaming rig then u don’t deserve to be a gamer”….& then u stated that u helped one of ur cousin to buy a pc & for u now he can play a lot of games in his or her pc..now here is the point-u r helping ur cousin to buy a pc..which means he or she can’t afford to buy a gaming pc & if he or she can’t afford to buy a good pc then he or she doesn’t deserve to be a gamer ! listen bro,i don’t have any problem with u & i don’t even wanted to write these…but ur comments r simply making me to write these…& now it is making me feel like i really don’t wanna see ur f******g comments ANYMORE !
Feb 8th, 2010 at 1:43 am
Watching*
Feb 8th, 2010 at 2:15 am
@Everyone
Keep it together people and let’s have a friendly discussion.
And don’t talk about money – it doesn’t matter and never will. What matters if you are a gamer at heart or not.
➡ To prove the point home (and no debates this time please). PCs have always been popular in Bangladesh and will always be so. However, consoles are really gaining in popularity in Dhaka and other prominent cities.
If a game releases multiplatform, the PC version obviously wins. And consoles are there for exclusives.
Sure you someone might disagree, but that’s what makes us human – we have our own opinions. Just remember to keep your cool while commentating.
Feb 8th, 2010 at 3:00 am
@The Gaming Wiz/Mushfiqur Rahman
“And don’t talk about money – it doesn’t matter and never will. What matters if you are a gamer at heart or not.”
it wasn’t me who started this topic.it was someone else ! so i won’t be responsible for this…
& the only word i wanna say to everyone is “sorry”.if any of my comments hurted someone’s feelings then i’m really sorry….
Feb 8th, 2010 at 4:32 am
@sng425
Sorry bro, that comment wasn’t directed to anyone in particular. I’ve had readers email me complaining so I had to step in before it got out of hand.
Feb 8th, 2010 at 9:38 am
Alright guys, im sorry if im irritating u nd i’ll try 2 keep my comments 2 a minimum….forgive me, but being a hardcore gamer is practically in my blood, so SORRY
Feb 10th, 2010 at 11:01 am
@sng425 Hahaha great post, way to go man!
@ Moontasir: come on man, just take it easy. Gaming is not a lifestyle neither a religion. Why get so serious over, why PC is superior to every other console out there?
“So dont even talk about which is better…..nd dont tell us dat wen u hav a friend around, its better 2 play on consoles……but trying playing an MMORPG on consoles……HAH….got ya….”
>>hahah dude what? Do you know anything about Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG)on consoles? These games are being played on the ps3 and 360 for so long you have no god damn idea bro, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Borderlands, Fable and whatever MMORPGs currently out on the 360 such as FFXI and Phantasy Star Universe. Oh how? XBOX LIVE, look it up. Oh and the even better FREE of charge Playstation Network!
So my point being consoles rule PC’s ass in the coop split-screen, drop-in drop out and SMACKDOWN VS RAW style gaming. I would also say online multiplayer but i am sure, somebody will scream “COUNTER STRIKE!!” or “WOW!” so i won’t.
There ain’t nothing in this world, you cant play on a home console, but heck you might end up finding more games to play on the console than the pc. I dont give a crap about ratings personally, i look at the production house,developer and the title when buying for the 360. If i like it i will play it, regardless.
ps. being biased is very easy 😉
Feb 13th, 2010 at 1:08 pm
Right. I tried Dead Space on my PC with a 360 controller. Try to feel that! I ended up finishing the game with the good ol’ keyboard/ mouse. But the thing is we gotta own at least one of the consoles in this present day since right at the moment I can’t play Dante’s Inferno or Assassin’s Creed II on the PC. The conventional IBM PCs as we know it shall soon become obsolete for most people as regular tasks that most people do on PCs can be done on netbooks or other sorts of portable devices.
Feb 13th, 2010 at 9:57 pm
@Kayes:
For most people yes, but for people who goes beyond the regular surfing,mailing and skype,it won’t become obsolete. Cause you know, gaming on the pc is one thing. The need of a desktop pc for me is A MUST! You can’t get a mini motherboard to connect your sata hardware on a netbook or a laptop. Somethings you cant get without a pc, to be honest all the mods available in this world for the 360 (i will just speak for what i did and know) requires you to have a pc first. I am sure the ps3 mod requires a pc to load the homebrew too.
Feb 14th, 2010 at 12:52 am
@TheSituation
Completely agree with u,bro !
Feb 14th, 2010 at 3:04 pm
@Kayes and TheSituation
We can expect to see the PC being used more for tasks other than gaming, even in Dhaka in a few years. Even if PC gaming weakens, it’s absurd to say conventional PCs will become obsolete. All businesses use PCs and console games are made on PCs in the first place. 😛
I used a 360 controller on my PC while playing Dead Space and completed it entirely. Although I had to lower the difficulty (since aiming with a gamepad is so retarded) but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make instead sitting up-close to my 46″ LCD.
Feb 14th, 2010 at 3:31 pm
@mushfiq:
you said it man! I beat dead space on the 360 have a lot of achievements on it, i remember it being mad difficult on hard!

Hey can you guys please give me detail information about the prospect of wii in Bangladesh!
i have bought a wii from Malaysia. now do i have to modify to play pirated games? i know, i am sounding really naive and stupid but i do need the very basic informations. so here are my questions:
1.from where can i modify my wii? what’s the price of modification and pirated games?
2. i also need to buy another wiimote and nun-chuck. so what’s the price?
3. am i going to face any kind of problem after modification?
no one talks about wii in this forum. is it because its not possible to play wii in Bangladesh without any difficulties?
please help me out!!
Faraz
Feb 15th, 2010 at 10:26 pm
@Faraz:
There are a lot of wii players in Bangladesh don’t worry bout that man! Stores in bd import a lot of wii games and accessories every month.
But the answer to all your question lies in another question:
Where do you live?
If it’s gulshan or banani or any nearby areas such as uttara, baridhara etc.
Go to DRAGON or SOF. Both of these shops provide all kinds of wii accessories, modding (too play pirated games), controllers and pirated games at the rate of 250tk.
Dragon is situated in Banani super market, second floor. (everybody knows what it is, ask around to get the shop)
SOF is in dubai market also known as UAE market, 3rd floor. You can see the sign, if you look up from the parking lot.
Numbers:
Dragon: 8822139 (open all days of the week except friday)
Sof: 9887384 (open all days of the week except tuesday)
Call to check availability, price and duration needed to mod your wii.
If you live near dhanmondi, your best bet is to go to Bashundhara city, level 6, Game source. (But i don’t recommend it, as i have never done my mods there)
Hope this info helps 🙂
Feb 15th, 2010 at 10:40 pm
thanks alot man. i live in dhanmondi but i’ll go for dragon or Sof.
this forum feels like heaven and you are an angel 🙂
Cheers!

i’ve been and probably will always be an avid pc gamer, but im also a new console owner & in my opinion its like this-
pc is without question the most customizable platform for gaming, & in terms of raw power its getting more and more powerful over time. but pc isnt a dedicated gaming machine, u have to run ur games on another platform (the os). although the hardware power of the pc has increased, things havent exactly gone to the same direction in terms of the platform on which u’ll run ur games. & this is where i believe pc lags to consoles. not to mention the frequent change of standards in pc hardware (specially by intel) also is a factor.
in early days, a 300MHz pc was enuff for ur everyday work and occassional gaming, but then came a new os & u needed at least 600mhz with 128mb ram. now there’s a new os that requires u to have a dual core system, 1gb ram with a decent gfx just to put up its own fancy interface.
consider running a decent pc game on a 733MHz processor with only 64mb ram, u probably cannot even imagine. but if u owned an xbox, u had a machine with the same config & u ran tons of games on it without much hiccups. now lets compare the next gen- both the major players in the console market have a multi-core processor with around half a gig of ram. now to compete with them, lets consider getting a decent triple core system at the minimal pricing & since amd keeps the cost down lets consider amd here. An amd triple core costs around 90$ and a decent motherboard to go with that, 80$ more, total 170$ (roughly 12000tk). then there’s gfx card, a somewhat decent one will cost around 8000tk, totalling 20k, then a good psu to power the card (4000tk more), plus around 7-8k more for ram, hdd etc. total cost- around 32000tk. & since amd isnt available in bd, for a bd gamer a somewhat similar config with intel components will raise the total to more than 45k (comparison- only the processor would cost u around 15k). how long will it serve u with best gaming performance? u cannot say for sure, but definitely not more than 15 to 18 months. now consider pretty much the same config, in a console, u get it for around 20-30k (in bd), & it will serve u until the next-gen console arrives (which is at least 5yrs). of course u loose option to customization, gfx is probably tad bit worse, gameplay slightly different and getting used to the gamepad might take some time, but what u get is peace of mind; u dont buy a game u’ve been waiting for years just to find that ur pc isnt powerful enuff to run it even at decent quality & to get ur expected performance u have to spend on pc upgrades. and when u go to buy upgrades, u come to find out that pretty much all the components in ur hardly 2yr old pc have been outdated and u have to change the whole system to accommodate any upgrades- so there goes another 30 grand. consider this- intel’s core i5 series (socket 1156) has been in the market for hardly 1.5yr & intel is already planning to launch a socket 1155 processor line in early 2011 which will NOT be compatible with 1156, so if u’ve bought a socket 1156 system in the last yr or so, u r pretty much screwed when either of ur core hardware expires.
so yes, in terms of costs associated with gaming, even though its the most popular platform, i’d say pc isnt the way to go in bd. with consoles, u win some u loose some, but they probably will give u the most bang for ur bucks.
i know im not the best writer, but i hope i was able to make my point clear.
