EA Looking At A 10 Year Life-Cycle For Star Wars: The Old Republic

EA has a long way planned for its upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO. Speaking at the UBS Annual Media and Communications Conference in New York, CFO Eric Brown said:

“Our assumptions for break-even and profitability are not seven-digit subscribers. We think we can run and operate a very successful and profitable MMO at different levels… The key thing here is to really perfect the product. We’re shooting for an extremely high quality game experience. We view this as a ten-year opportunity.”

How they plan to do it is still not clear as a single game alone won’t last that long. Maybe (and that’s a no-brainer) they’ll support it with expansion packs to keep things fresh over the 10 year life-span, much like Blizzard’s World of Warcraft and any other MMO.

The game is due out sometime in spring 2011 only on the PC.
