Free Tech Support
Having PC or tech troubles? Let me show you how to get free tech support for your PC or other tech problems.
First, we have to drill down to the exact symptom so you can be your very own tech support. For general Windows related problems, try Microsoft’s free tech support. You can chat live or even post a more complicated question in “Ask The Community” to get free tech support without spending a dime. You can also get troubleshooting info for Internet Explorer, Xbox, Office and other Microsoft products and services.
If your PC won’t turn on, don’t panic. Firstly, make sure that the power cord is inserted correctly and that the power has been switched on. If the PC still doesn’t turn on, it may be necessary to open it up. Make sure that the RAM is seated properly, and all the cables are tightly secured. If that doesn’t do the trick, check the power supply unit itself. Get a friend’s or take it elsewhere to check.
If you are having video card/graphics card problems, first try installing the latest drivers. This usually fixes the issue. Another reason could be overheating. Make sure that the inside of the case is free of dust and that there is adequate amount of cooling. If you’re a tinkerer like me, it is actually possible to short the graphics card from static electricity. I’ve had one graphics card die on me because I yanked it out of the board from the PCIe slot instead of releasing the latch first.
If you’re having virus problems, try our recommended list of the best free online antivirus.
